I got my first taste of competition at the age of eight at my first track meet and I was hooked. After running indoor and outdoor track for the next 15 years, I took a break for seven years knowing I would be back to some kind of competition. 2011 was when I found CrossFit, then weightlifting followed in 2014. Weightlifting was the best thing to happen to me because it came at a time in my life when I needed it most. I lost my job, went through a divorce and sold my house, all while raising twin daughters.
Weightlifting brought me the peace, strength, and discipline I needed to go from darkness to light, from broken to healed, and most recently from employee to business owner. Adversity isn't something that will keep me down; instead it will force me to dig deep, tap into my faith in God, lean on those who love me and come out the other side stronger; physically, mentally, and spiritually. That is why #IAMNOBULL.
